RM Juniors

 


Coaching & mentoring for junior runners.

 
 
 

Our junior running program has been developed to cater for both primary school and high school aged kids who have a keen interest in running and are looking to improve their general fitness, develop their running skills and/or train for specific events e.g. middle distance & cross country.

Mini Mates: primary school aged kids (5 - 10 years)

Junior Squad: high school aged kids (11 - 17 years)

Our Junior Squad also provides a pathway for further progression into competitive running if and when your child decides that this is something they wish to pursue.

 

Our Core aim

Our core aim is to coach, guide and support each individual to:

  • Improve their running skills and build running confidence

  • Improve health, fitness and wellbeing

  • Set and work towards achieving their running goals

  • Become their best possible self

What's included?

Sessions are designed and delivered by an experienced runner who is also an Athletics Australia Level 2 accredited running coach and degree qualified exercise physiologist.

Typically each session is divided into 3 parts i.e. warm up, main set & cool down

  • Warm up: 10 - 15 mins easy running, followed by dynamic stretching + run specific drills

  • Main Set: Intervals, fartlek, hills, cross country / trail sessions tailored to each runners ability

  • Cool down - 5 - 10 mins easy running + recovery

 

When and Where?

TERM 4 2019

Mini Mates (ages 5 - 10 years)

Sessions will be held on Monday Afternoons throughout the school term i.e. 28th October until 16th December 2019 (7 sessions)

Note: there will be no session on Monday 11th November.

Time: 4:00pm – 4:50pm

Location: Waratah Running Track, Sutherland (off Rawson Pde); OR
Loftus Oval Car Park (off the Princes Hwy)

Junior Squad (ages 11 - 17 years)

Sessions will be held on Friday Afternoons throughout the school term i.e. 18th October till 20th December 2019 (10 Sessions).

School Holidays - Sessions will held on the 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st January 2020.

Time: 4:30pm – 5:30pm

Location: Waratah Running Track, Sutherland (off Rawson Pde); OR
Loftus Oval Car Park (off the Princes Hwy) if running along the trails in the Royal National Park.

NOTE: Session details will be communicated via group message.

 

What about the Weather?

Sessions will generally proceed regardless of the weather. However, if its really bad, we’ll notify everyone of the cancellation via our Facebook page and / or group message.

 

How Do I Join & Get Started?

  1. Get in touch with us via the 'Get Started' button and let us know which Running Mate service(s) you are interested in.

  2. We’ll contact you and request that you complete our pre-participation to provide us with valuable information about your Junior Runner (e.g. details of running background (if any), health and injury history, life schedule and running goals etc.).

  3. Organise payment and come along.

Mini Mates (Term 4)

1 child = $85 (7 sessions);
2 or more children (i.e. siblings) from same family = $75 per child; or
Casual = $15 per session

Junior Squad (Term 4 and Summer Holidays)

1 child = $120 (Term 4 ONLY); $170 (Term 4 & Summer Holidays); $50 (Summer Holidays ONLY)
2 or more children (i.e. siblings) from same family = $105 (Term 4 ONLY); $150 (Term 4 & Summer Holidays); $45 (Summer Holidays ONLY); or
Casual = $15 per session
